A century of tradition and creation
At Villars, the love of Swiss chocolate began in 1901, when an eminent chocolate Master settled on the outskirts of Fribourg – close to the region of Gruyères, renowned for its double cream, cream and alpine milk. Thus was born a luxury chocolate, whose reputation very quickly spread abroad: within a few years, Villars became the supplier to several European courts.
Boosted by this success, the company increased the number of its innovations and improvements. For example, Villars launched the first liqueur bars (the famous Villars Drops) in the nineteen thirties, and endlessly continued to refine the Perrier Swiss Whip – an eminent Swiss confectionery speciality.
